[Cafe Report] Court of Darkness/MakaNai Concept Cafe Dinner Course @ Harajuku Solomons (June 15)

Continuing on from the lunch menu blog post, I booked a table for June 15 so that I could experience the dinner course, which was the highlight of the concept cafe.

Photos and full report under the cut.

To my surprise, there were a lot of people at the restaurant, either because they were celebrating a special ocassion or were also there for the concept cafe. The ad for the concept cafe in the app mentions that the restaurant interior served as what the S-rank lounge would look like, which I thought was fitting. It makes me wonder how the team behind MakaNai managed to nail down the restaurant that they could work with and create the concept cafe.

Just arrived
Honestly, the stairs were rather steep… had to be careful in going down.

After arriving and getting seated at the very same table as when I had the lunch course, I dug in heartily as I was very hungry.

Appetizer:
Dry-cured ham and black tea-bred duck on charcuterie
Salmon carpaccio
Pumpkin salad on waffle cone

For the dinner course, I chose three drinks:
Elegant Tea Time Roy’s Pink Rose Tea
Bursting With A Smile! Rio’s Mango Orange Juice
Sweet Moments Together Toa’s Caramel Latte

Because I ordered three drinks, I also received three different coasters:

L ~ R: Grayson Hotz (Grasse Hotz), Fenn Luxure (Fenn Modea), and Lou (Leu)

After the coasters, the staff brought out the spaghetti bolognese:

Nothing to complain about; pasta is pasta after all

The pasta dish itself was rather filling, so I was a bit concerned if it was possible for me to finish the upcoming roast beef, as the volume of it was a lot.

Main course:
Roast beef

I managed to finish the dish, and with all my drinks also gone, I opted to order Lance’s drink again, as has become my favorite among the collab drinks they have on the menu.

After the appetizer, the pasta, and the main dish have all been consumed, it was time for dessert.

What’s unique about the cafe from the other collabs that Voltage Inc has done is that for dessert, the staff would then lay out black paper on your table and would do table art for ten minutes while the app’s main menu BGM would play in the background.

Partially-drawn table art

At the end of the table art drawing session, the staff then wrote down the message from Fenn to my friend (I’m acting as her representative), and then broke the white-colored sphere, revealing more dessert inside.

At this point, I was contemplating whether I would be able to finish all of it… (spoiler alert: I did)

The dessert
It had castella, mochi, caramel popcorn, cornflakes, sliced strawberry cake, and white chocolate

After I was done pigging out over the sweet and salty assortments, I was handed the bill, signaling that it was time for me to leave (at this point, it was already 10PM, and I have to be up early the next day).

Final thoughts:

I was a bit peeved that the dinner course was costly (JPY6,500) but found that it was priced rather modestly (it could also be cheaper than the other cafes even!), especially since the food served was filling. Add to that, the staff had to draw, under time pressure, so the price was justified in the end.

As the aim for this dinner course was to see Fenn Modea/Luxure’s table art message, I booked another schedule for Lance Sata/Ira, so the next post will be featuring that, as well as Toa Quifer/Quelsum’s, as this was the character my friend selected for her table art.

Will continue off from there!
